Shamanic Journeying II
This course is a sequel to the introductory FSS workshop, The Shamanic Journey: Pathway to Knowledge and Power. Students will continue to explore their non-ordinary reality territories, including discovering additional layers or levels of the upper and lower worlds. Students will learn ways to cultivate their relationships with the helping spirits they have met, and develop personal practices for maintaining spiritual connection. Shamanic Divination II
This is a sequel to the FSS workshop, Shamanic Divination in Practice. Students will continue their exploration of a variety of shamanic divination techniques, and begin to develop proficiency in the techniques that are especially effective for them and their helping spirits. They will begin to assemble tools and objects for their own use in divination practices, and receive instruction from their helping spirits in the use of these tools and objects. A cross-cultural, core shamanic understanding of clear quartz crystals, their attributes and uses, is introduced in this course.
The Shamanic Worldview / Nature & Ancestor Spirits
In order to practice shamanism ethically, effectively and with compassion, it is important to understand that shamanism comes from cultures whose worldview is much different from ours. This course explores through journeys and other first-hand experiences, some of the basic assumptions of shamanism, such as the aliveness and inter-connectedness of all things, and the understanding that humans are not separate from or superior to other beings.
This course also includes an introduction to two types of Middle World spirits, with whom shamans have traditionally worked in beneficial ways - spirits of nature, and ancestor spirits.
FSS: Shamanism, Spirits and Healing
This course continues the study of spirits of Upper, Middle and Lower Worlds, and provides an overview of core shamanic healing methods. Students will learn more about Animal Spirits, and deepen their practice of Power Animal Retrieval, as an especially effective form of shamanic healing.
FSS: The Shaman as Psychopomp
Among the many types of Middle World spirits are the souls of deceased humans, who may be lost or confused and in need of help. Shamans are traditionally known as healers of the living, the dying & the dead. This course introduces the core shamanic method for helping souls who are lost to transcend out of the Middle World, and includes explorations of the non-ordinary reality destiny of human souls.
FSS Shamanic Extraction Healing
Students will be introduced to the extraction method of healing, including how to see, sense, and remove localized illness and pain connected to spiritual factors. This is an essential part of shamanic healing training. They will also learn how shamanic practitioners can work in partnership with the compassionate spirits to increase the power and effectiveness of this work.
Shamanic Healing for Body & Soul
This course provides an opportunity to learn more about the nature of intrusions and the powerful core shamanic extraction healing method. It will also lay important ground work to prepare participants for the coming training in soul retrieval. This additional layer of preparation is designed to deepen participants' trust in, and partnerships with their helping spirits, so that both their extraction healing and soul retrieval healing can be all the more powerful and effective.
FSS: Power Soul Retrieval
In this course, students will learn about soul loss and soul retrieval from a shamanic perspective. The importance of shamanic power to do successful soul retrieval will be emphasized. Students will also learn how to re-empower a client’s soul after it has been returned so that the client is once again spiritually power-filled, leading to greater health and well-being.
FSS: Inspired Shamanic Practice
This course, developed by FSS president, Susan Mokelke, explores subjects related to the ethical practice of shamanism in western culture as well as ordinary reality issues of working with clients, friends and family, answering clients' questions, and the topic of fees or exchanges for healing sessions.
FSS: Core Shamanism Healing Practice
This course is a culmination of the series of core shamanic healing courses. Students will have the opportunity to offer shamanic healing sessions to each other, using multiple core shamanic methods. The first day includes a review and practice of these primary methods: extraction healing, power animal retrieval, psychopomp work, and power soul retrieval. On the second day, students will offer a complete shamanic healing session for another student.
Shamanism & Dreams
Dreams of all kinds are central to the experience of being human. In some indigenous cultures, dreams are the primary means of interacting with the spirit world. Many western students of shamanism report similar experiences. In addition, the metaphorical language of dreams can resemble the metaphorical language through which the spirits communicate with us in journeys. The course begins an exploration of core shamanic techniques for interacting with our dreams with the help of the compassionate spirits. Shamanism & Creative Expression
Humans have expressed themselves with irrepressible creativity since we first made our appearance on the earth. The connections between creative expression and spiritual practice are just as ancient. Some of the oldest artifacts ever found are thought to be representations of spirits, or tools for divinatory practices. In western culture, the relationship between creativity and inspiration has been explored by artists, writers and philosophers since the time of Aristotle and much earlier. In this course, students will explore their own forms of creative expression, and discover ways to work in partnership with their helping spirits to enhance their creative experience.
